A Posthuman Study on Climate Fear

This project utilized several layers of AI to generate and represent a most post-human fear-

A world, without us. How much time, until the shadows of our lives decay and disappear after we are gone? What is the value of self preservation, and therefore, what is the value of the moment? And, is the stuff that we are made up of truly as ongoing as we seem to convince ourselves, or are we in denial of our own end at every step of our waking lives? What of the fears that the media would wish us to believe? With seemingly daily notes of end times, declarations of due dates for the world and global panic in regards to climate change haven’t brought us any respite from daily intrusive thoughts of our demise. In fact, sometimes, it seems there is no respite at all…

These anxieties were bottled and reconstituted in the form of this collection. It is an attempt to capture the fear, the entropy, and the glory of mankind as a remnant on this spinning rock we call home.

GLATCH BY GAGE

The Glatches began as a creative coding exercise in late 2021. I initially created just 100 Glatches, making them available for purchase on OpenSea- But I quickly realized that the code was extremely malleable and turned out to be wildly dynamic. This resulted in a year of obsession, as I iterated endlessly and curated a collection of 1000 Glatches total. Head over to my “projects” tab to check out some of the variance!
