Catastrophe
Catastrophe is an hour-long electronic epic. It was recorded in 2020 through the thick of the pandemic. This was a really rough time for me personally as I’m sure it was for countless others, and the result can be found in the pulsating, pumping beats and rhythms that are scattered throughout this album. Fun fact, I recorded a real 32-piece orchestra for the opening track “Sands of Time.”
For my production during this period I was very inspired by throwback 2000’s era electronic music, and I wanted to make songs that were using some of the same old digital synths, so many of these tracks are utilizing updated patches of old 2011-15 versions of some of the music-making community’s favorite digital synths, like Massive and Reaktor.

Source, Memory, Imagination
This project spurned from an idea provided by my mentor Eyvind Kang. He encouraged me to keep a journal to write down my ideas for sounds that inspire me, and to categorize them into three different ways – the sounds that I hear from the real world, the sounds that I hear from my memories, and the sounds I hear from my imagination. That fall, I would spend lots of time writing in my book, and I would come to record many if not all of the sounds I wrote down, in this very album.
I started getting heavy into electronic music during the making of this album, and it shows with tracks like “In a Park at Night,” “Chatting,” and “Profit Prophet.” The opening track, “To Be Awoken” is, in my opinion, my favorite song that I have ever made, and was sampled almost entirely from vinyl records.

Deserters Loops and Abandoned Tracks
After completing both Recall and To Be Awoken, I went back to work on many of the unfinished ambient and experimental sounds that I had began working on but ended up not including in Recall, as it didn’t necessarily fit the childhood-reflection theme. There were some ~32 tracks left over, and only about half of them made the cut. I consider it to be a sister album of sorts to Recall, at any rate.
Many of the recordings on this album are one take performances that I loved, but suffered from less-than-optimal audio fidelity and recording conditions. As it turns out, this gave me a good opportunity to see just how much variety and movement I can generate by processing only one audio track. Like Recall, this album is full of field recordings and experimental sound synthesis, but is over-all much noisier and lofi.

To Be Awoken
A variety album of sorts, this project crosses over several genres, from full-blown psychedelic/experimental music to lush ambient pieces, recorded with real strings. The real strings are important to me, I wanted to perform on violin and upright bass throughout the project. I was experimenting with different song forms at this time, and I was excited to finally break into my sound as a producer and recording artist. To this day, my voice has never been truer than it is on this album. This is my favorite project of mine to date.

Recall
Recall was produced as a cathartic reflection and meditation on my childhood. Featuring experimental synthesis, field recordings, and performed drones, this project is full of experimental sounds and recordings from places that are very meaningful to me.
My process with this album was this: the first thing that I would do is consider a memory from my childhood. I would use the feeling of the memory to help inform a basic song form. I would visit the location that the memory took place in, in order to collect field recordings at the memory’s source. Some of these include the houses I grew up in, the places I would play outside as a child, inside my family’s car while taking the long drive to San Diego from Folsom, and several others. When I had over 200 different sounds and places recorded, I figured I’d stop and focus on composition.
